I’ve learned that true leadership isn’t about wielding power, but about understanding the responsibility that comes with it. It’s about having walked in the shoes of those you lead, having felt the weight of expectations and the frustration of limitations. Those experiences of being led, of following and learning, have shaped my understanding of what it means to inspire and guide others. It’s through those experiences that I can truly empathize and connect with those I lead.

To be a leader who inspires and motivates, you must first understand the perspective of those you seek to guide. Embrace the experience of being led, of learning from others and following their direction. Allow yourself to be shaped by the guidance of mentors and role models, for it is through these experiences that you will develop the empathy and understanding necessary to lead effectively. True leadership comes from a place of shared experience and mutual respect.

Divine Guide, grant us the humility to learn from those who lead us. Help us to understand the challenges and complexities of leadership by first experiencing the role of a follower. Grant us the wisdom to learn from our mentors and the patience to grow through our experiences. May we always strive to be leaders who inspire and empower, who lead with compassion and understanding.
